Successful deferral letter

Former Synocate student who was admitted following submission of this deferral letter

Dear Ms. Purdy,

My name is John Smith, and I applied to University of Michigan early action and was notified of my application being deferred. I would like to convey my continued interest in attending the University of Michigan because of the Mathematics of Finance and Risk Management Program, where I hope to carry over my interest in applying math to solve financial problems for both corporations and individuals.

I am still participating in my activities: continuing to run the American Red Cross Club at my school and playing basketball in both JCC and CYO leagues. Furthermore, since my application has been submitted, I have started working at Hollister Co. for about twenty hours a week while keeping my first semester grades very high, especially in my math and economic classes.

When I visited U of M, the mixture of its campus with the beautiful town of Ann Arbor really stood out to me and made me realize that The University of Michigan is my top choice school, and I would attend if admitted.

Thank you for your time,

John Smith (Common App ID)
